I understand the statement but shit, I thought he'd be in until the final episode

Gotta be honest, season 5 was my least favorite. Last 2 episodes were something but the rest of the season was so soul-dredging, and the final montage with so many of the most game-playing motherfuckers falling upwards killed me.
At least Bubbs and Namond made it out.

Also most of the chicks who got naked for this show had some of the best tits I've ever seen on television, HBO casting was on its game in 2002-2007.

mcnulty's ex-wife was an absolute smokeshow.
Carcetti's campaign manager was likewise an absolute smokeshow
but yee season 5 is by far the worst. ridiculous main plot, but did give us one of the show's greatest lines, "you're not killing them yourself, McNulty, at least assure me of that"
was that lester? man lester was the fuckin best
rawls also was...a character in the wire.
Duke and Michael just continuing the cycle of Bubbles and Omar, no one ever getting near the Greek, Carcetti having to drag all the worst elements of previous administrations up with him in order to make any progress, the same process that brought down Marlo ultimately making him a millionaire, whatever his discomfort in that role, and forcing Perlman to suppress the dirt that could've exposed Levy... and of course the Pulitzers at the Sun.
At least the endings for McNulty and Freamon were kind of happy, it seemed like he'd reconciled with Beadie and Lester keeps his pension, did better by him than they did Colvin.

dukie's ending was a big fucking oof, that shit killed me
Bubbles' speech tho, shit was beautiful
ain't no shame in holding on to grief, as long as you make room for other things too
tbr nothing hit harder than Michael saying goodbye to Bug, losing the thing he had sacrificed everything to protect in a perfectly crushing Greek tragedy
To this day, I still feel horrible for Dookie. Most of those kids never had a chance.
Starting tomorrow HBO is making a bunch of their shows available to stream without a subscription
