Nier Replicant Gameplay
Nier Replicant Gameplay
Oh I'm here for those bullet hell sequences.
I cannot wait for this. Played through the original and the only complaint I had about it was just the gameplay and now that is fixed. Should be amazing.

I am delighted to hear the remake will get an enhanced soundtrack. Here's hoping it gets FFVIIR remake levels of enhancement (unlike those less desirable noisy remixes like the ones found in dissidia or other games/series)
More song of the ancients yesssssss![]()
The english voices are intact, although the protagonist's VA is unknown I think for now, but speculations are going. The lines are also re-recorded, I had to go double check, and it sounds significantly better so far so I can't wait to play it through in its entirety.
Does the original play like Automata? The only other game ive played besides Automata was Drakengard 1, and that was like a dynasty warriors vibe, thing?
Looking at the videos available, it looks like it's small enhancement over the original. Otherwise you have a book (your pod basically) that can cast a variety of spells (like pod abilities) but only I think two at a time. You also have a roll button. You can equip a variety of weapons again, and also upgrade them via drops found in-game. Gameplay wise it's rather simple, no complex combos or anything. It's more repetitive than anything. It's OK at best. Automata improves on it in every aspect.
You have 2 companions that travel with you but are not controllable. They don't do much and are idle most of the time (a big contrast to 2B/9S). In this new upgrade of the game, I expect the battle system to be largely the same, but it seems they've improved on the responsiveness and possibly the combo possibilities to make the system less repetitive.
The trailer was amazing, so many scenes all at once that we're seeing in its new glory. It was great to also get a glimpse of Devola and Popola, as I don't think we ever saw them in this new game until now. The music for the first half a is a downgrade though.
edit: oh, like automata, you need to replay the game a few times
edit2: the above trailer is a like for like of the original:
edit3: Just rewatched it a few times, in Japanese too. The new Song of the Ancients (this track is remixed again in automata; the instrumental version plays against the first very boss (after the tutorial sequence) and then played again during the sequence where Devola and Popola buys you time to hack the central tower when playing as 9S) lost its percussion/beats somewhat, and I consider this song to extremely important (the percussion/beats just makes it that much better). Still, it's not bad, I just feel a bit disappointed by the lack of.
A new (refreshed) soundtrack is welcome though. I do hope for some twists or additions, such as being able to play as the other 2.
Yeah, combat in the original Nier 1 was always a bit clunky and slow at times from what I remember, but honestly, this remake just makes it look much closer to Automata now. Been a few years since I played the original Nier 1 though.
Even if they don't add anything new to this game, it's still a wonderful game to play through, especially with how many people are probably interested in more after playing Automata and I don't think the original Nier was that popular in the past.
Combat is mediocre in OG. It's not as bad as the internet has made it seem for the past decade. It's just barebones and doesn't have much going on. It works fine.
Yes and no. When replaying, the game starts you at the midpoint of the game rather than the beginning. For the second "replay," I would take your time. It's not longer, but has new dialogue. For the 3rd and 4th, you speedrun that shit and just watch the final cutscenes play differently. It takes about 1.5hrs for the "replay" if you just go fast casually.edit: oh, like automata, you need to replay the game a few times
Ah yeah I was keeping it intentionally vague to avoid spoilers and to not set expectations haha because it sounded like he isn't aware of much of the game.
I don’t usually buy games when they’re brand new, but after playing Automata I thought I’d splurge on Replicant. Got a good deal on a preorder today: £39 (rrp £50).
PS4, I don’t play on PC anymore, mainly cos it’s too much of a hassle to turn on.
Thanks but it’s more laziness than anything else. My computer chair has become a clothes chair and I haven’t turned the computer on for a couple of years so it’s gonna need a million updates. With the PS4 I can just turn the tv on and plonk down on the sofa and I’m up and running in a few mins.
I've been watching some VTubers play Automata recently, it looks kinda fun >_>
