Between people protesting to open things back up in Ohio ignoring distancing and such as well as all the churchgoers willing to Darwin themselves this weekend, I fully expect us to have a second wind of case surges the more we're told things are getting better despite there still being so many unknown/active cases.

Kentucky governor said police will watch for mass gatherings this weekend. Police will record license plates, find the owner, report that owner to the health department. A warning sign will be placed on the from door of the owner and they'll be required to stay in their home for 14 days lol. I love the scarlet letter.

Having trouble Googlin' an answer, probably because there's still a lot of unknowns, but anyone know if it's possible to have the virus without fever symptoms? I know there are folks who can be asymptomatic, but I don't know if that also excludes the fever, since some folks aren't as sensitive to a slight body increase than others.

Minnehaha county in South Dakota now the 4th largest hotspot in the US and DOH to declare a health emergency for the county.

To be clear because this county sounds like a joke, this is where Sioux Falls is, 170k population in the county. They have 352 tested positive cases, 190 of which were from workers at a single pork processing plant.

How is this the "4th largest hotspot," in the country when wake county (NC) has about 400 positive cases and a population a little over 1 million? There's about 4k cases in NC total.

They've focused on the virus' life span on surfaces we come into contact with like cardboard, plastics, cloth, etc. Has anything been said how it acts in a refrigerated environment on meat? Can't imagine that going well.

Things were already tense at a prison in Lansing, Kansas.

A dozen inmates and 14 staffers got sick from Covid-19, and officials gave out cloth masks to try and stop the infection from spreading further.

Then, on Thursday, some of the prisoners began to set fires and smash windows. The uprising lasted several hours, and it is not clear why it started. No-one was badly hurt during the melee, and the facilities were locked down again by early the following day.

The violence at the prison - which houses about 150 inmates - is the latest sign that people in confinement are becoming increasingly desperate.

Because of course he is, the FDA has warned Alex Jones & InfoWars to stop selling coronavirus "cures."

In a letter dated April 9, the FDA states that it is taking measures to protect consumers from “certain products that, without approval or authorization by FDA, claim to mitigate, prevent, treat, diagnose, or cure COVID-19 in people.” Several items available for sale in InfoWars’s online store apparently meet that definition. As a result, the FDA has added InfoWars to a list of websites that have been caught peddling products misleadingly represented as effective in warding off or treating the virus.

Among the products cited are “SuperSilver Wound Dressing Gel,” “Superblue Fluoride Free Toothpaste,” and “Superblue Silver Immune Gargle,” which Jones promoted during a March 10 show titled “Alex Jones Deep States: Using Coronavirus Fear and Panic To Destroy Our Country.”

According to the FDA, Jones told listeners of his show that his products were known to “boost your immune system” and were “on record taking out viruses and bacteria.” The same day, Jones said his products “kill every virus,” that the Pentagon had document this effect “13 years ago,” and that the chemicals in his products are “about to be in Walmart.” In a separate video a month prior, Jones told listeners that if they were “concerned about the coronavirus” they should purchase his products because they “fight off infection.”

My wife said things at work are pretty tense right now because her unit is getting overhauled to handle Covid patients. Her coworker and friend wasn't at work last night. She heard from another coworker that she went of FMLA. We are betting her friend cited mental health reasons because she's been incredibly stressed over work and having three kids (12 and under). On a happy note the hospital has implemented playing the song Walking on Sunshine overhead every time a Covid patient gets discharged. She said it's a small but nice thing to hear while working during this.

Another positive thing, sort of, is the local large college has opened up the dorms to all hospital workers. My wife said that basically if anyone wants to stay there instead of going home they can. Definitely nice for commuters. She asked what I thought about her staying there because she's worried if she gets sick then I do too. It's kind of tough to think about such a thing.

Stick to your protocols and bring extra clothes to change into. As soon as I finish my shift, I shower at work and change into fresh clothes. My work clothes get double bagged and into the steam cycle when I get home. My shoes stay at the hospital, I wear different shoes home.

When my wife gets home she goes downstairs and puts her cloths in the wash immediately. Shoes stay down there where she cleans them. Then shower. She takes all the precautions and what not that she can.

After news of the nurses who walked out at a Detroit hospital hit we talked a bit about that. There was a girl locally who took leave at a facility because she was tasked to sit with Covid patients. She made social media posts about how she's not going to risk her family's health. My wife's stance is that this is exactly why she became a CNA and it's why she's working towards her RN. She said the only way there would be an issue is if she couldn't properly protect herself at work.
