So I discovered that Aerith's shield ability is way more useful than I ever expected it to be. I just don't know how useful it is in the later chapters that she's in but I'll look into it as I progress through Hard Mode.

Yo why did they set up Roche and then not bring him back during the Crazy Motorcycle sequence? lol
This ending was super Kingdom Hearts though. All this foreshadowing better not mean they save Aeris from dying.
Or or or... and bear with me... they don't do any of that because the story is already there and loved and all that stuff isn't needed to make the story better.
That dipshit Nomura got me with KH3 and now he get me with this one. Unless my husbando Cid is going to be in part 2 I'm not gunna care too much for the next one
I wouldn't mind Aerith living because the most frustrating thing about her character is how much you wanna help but can't, if you actually have to put in the work to save her I wouldn't mind at all.
But I agree the major beats and characters of FF7 need to remain, there's a reason people want to play this game and it's probably due to the original so throwing everything out after Midgar would be the worst idea.
Also like does that mean Zack survived too? Is this just an alternate timeline and Sephy had us kill the arbiters of fate so he doesn't lose this time? Idk whats going on anymore.
Also yo they kept both Biggs and Wedge alive but killed off Jessie![]()
Is Wedge alive? I thought he died in Shinra building instead (though seeing him there was still wtf)? Biggs being alive is huge, but no Jessie is the worst.
I mean they didn't show him dying and the Shinra building didn't exactly get wrecked so I'm not convinced Wedge is dead.
Wedge is almost certainly alive.
I dont know if Zack is alive but the ending rewrites (literally) the end of crisis core (I just watched the final CS on youtube) so who the fuck knows. That took time and money and effort to make so it has got to mean something.
I am watching GF (ultra normie with no knowledge of FF7) play through this and it is interesting listening to all the things that annoy her and dont make sense. I will probably compile them at the end. I do honestly care more about the opinions of people who dont know every aspect of ff7 lore here. The game is $60-$80 and we got 2 years for the next one. It should stand alone.
Nobody knows. From what I'm guesstimating, this is an alternate timeline due to Sephiroths consciousness being in the lifestream, so he's able to see the past and future. He then started fucking with shit in the past like appearing before Cloud at the start of remake to get Cloud to fuck off. If Cloud ran away then he wouldn't have met Aerith etc etc Then the dementors, which are like shitty versions of Rick and Morty's time police, started fucking with shit to keep things pure since now everything isn't happening the way it's supposed to. It seems to appear that killing them at the end has some sort of ripple effect on their existence since they disappear into sparkles. We see em during Zacks last stand all the way to present day Midgar. They were probably going to interfere with Zack surviving but since we killed them, he's golden.
My friend who has never played the OG is almost done so I can't wait to see his take on things
Wedge is more likely dead than not. At that point, the whispers were still working their magic and wedge was supposed to be dead. We see them gusting him away and they cut to darkness before you hear glass crashing; and he was standing right next to the glass window/elevator.
Clearly its ambiguous, but there's more of a reason to believe the whispers killed him than there is he survived when Cloud and Co. had yet to change the timeliness or destiny or whatever they're calling it

It does seem a little odd that those were the only dementors out of all dementors to try to stop this. Like these people are serious about stopping events from changing, but there was only a few of them, period?
They didn't explain why this timeline was suddenly conscious of the alternate game timeline, but pretty much from the time you left the first reactor and saw sephiroth, sephiroth himself was working to undo the timeline where he eventually lost.

Also lol how does causality work in this world because if Zack now isn’t dead then there is no way that Cloud becomes the person he is today and finds himself in the same situations with the same identity disorders that make him who he is.
So the ripple went back through time and changed the past but changing the past doesn’t have causal effects in the future?
I mean if those are the time travel rules we are going with here then...sure, whatever. IF they can stick to them though lol. We shall see.
Either that or the chip bag with the different Stamp on it means that Zack is now alive in the original timeline but not this timeline which means Cloud and co. would never have gone on their merry adventure in the original game unless also lack of causality there. This would mean that from this point forward there would need to be no flashes from the original game. Or there can be no causality in the alt. timeline too and Zack living means absolutely fuck all to us.
