wtf this makes ZERO sense. the whole reason theyre even fighting fate is to save aerith. if they didnt give two flying fucks about saving her, they'd just let fate unwind as normal cause they...won? literally everything is fine except aerith dies, even 500 years into the future shit is fine.

To a lesser extent theyre fighting to save as many people as possible from returning to the planet because of sephiroths plan, but really theyre going on this crazy ride to 1. save the planet like they always did, and 2. to save aerith this time.

This entire ending rewrite is literally to just save aerith, and give fans of the original a new plot to enjoy in the remake instead of just a "remaster" of the game.

You're meta gaming. At this point Barret, Tifa, and Cloud have 0 fucking idea that Aerith will eventually be killed by Sephiroth. The RGB Barret, Tifa, and Cloud standins defending the future that they fought for makes complete sense, and they likewise have 0 way to know that this Barret, Tifa, and Cloud could potentially save Aerith's life because the only future they know and can know is the one where she already died.

They didnt make it obvious if everyone else also saw Cloud laying Aerith to rest, but Cloud definitely saw it and shed a tear. If they didn't all see it, Cloud might just tell them later lol. No way Aerith isn't aware of it, either, but she was talking as if she knew it would happen way before ch18.

They saw other visions of the future, commented on them and knew what they were even if clearly they don't really know whats going on, but then saw this vision of Aerith dead in the future and had no idea what was going on? cmon man

Red XIII even comments "a vision of the future if we fail here", well my guy you failing here means you save the world from sephiroth after a crazy number of people die, but at least you did it. If youre trying to change that, why? The only reason that makes sense, plot wise, is to save Aerith...and thousands of no-name NPCs

If I wanted to shoot you down completely I'd just tell you that the scene where Cloud sheds a tear is in response to Aerith walking away in the Sleeping Forest prior to her death, not toward her death itself. The scene where Cloud sees Aerith drop the Holy materia in the city of the ancients is a separate event. He never foresees himself lowering Aerith into the water. It is intentionally obfuscated so that he can not see himself nor Aerith in the shot. You are wrong.

Yeah, the way he attacks and plays is a bit different than other characters so they probably didn’t have time to implement him as a playable character. Not to mention, he joins so late in the game for the player to develop him.

Definitely expect him to be playable in the second game.

They said they didn't make him playable because he comes in so late into the game, that it wasn't worth it for the first game. He'll be playable in part 2.

My dude. They saw Meteor about to blow up Midgar and the planet and are trying to avert that crisis. Once again they have no way to know, through the visions that they were given (probably by Sephiroth since subverting the ongoing time line means he 'doesn't lose', but that can't be proven and is just a theory) that the Meteor is eventually stopped by the lifestream.there is also no way for them to interpret a puddle of water, a falling materia, and someone's kneecaps as Aerith getting turned into a kebab by sephiroth in a place that they don't even know exists yet.

Your entire argument is "they know meteor is stopped by the lifestream" which is like...okay? thats how they save the world. If theyre gonna save the world, why change the future? clearly they dont like the future where meteor is stopped, and so theyre fighting to change it.

I thought the whispers might be controlled by sephiroth at one point, but clearly they arent if they saved Barrett. Likely just Sephiroth seeing the same visions Aerith did, for reasons still unknown, seeing his fate and wanting to change it.

Try rereading my post, because I said the exact opposite of what you just claimed. I said that they have no way of knowing that the life stream would stop Meteor. They have no way of knowing at the present time with the visions that they have been fed that they will succeed in saving the world in the future. As of now it can all be interpreted as someone or something feeding them memories to make them believe they failed altogether or that the fight is hopeless to begin with.

If fate itself was showing them that they'd succeed eventually then they would have just shown Meteor being fought by the lifestream, of Midgar being saved from destruction. Even the scene where you see Red running can be seen as him running away from something, not toward something, as the scene is left intentionally ambiguous. As of now they want to save the world from a future where Meteor destroys their world. No other information is available to the characters in the game at the moment. We as players of the original may know what those scenes mean but they are not us.
