Jenova isn't even Sephiroth's mother, it's Lucretia the chick Vincent was in love with. He was born naturally just that Hojo injected Jenova cells while Sephiroth was still Lucretias womb. Hojo is his father.
Watching Max's excitement at the ending was cool. Glad he really likes it. Saying it's one of his top 5 games now might be a bit much in my opinion lol, but it's always cool seeing someone so happy about something.
Yea that's why I had offspring in quotes. He's biologically human but biology tends to become marred when Jenova's cells get introduced
I really wonder how they are going to do this new timeline thing, Is Sephiroth going to find out about his origins and become a good guy? In the original he never knew about his origins and he still doesn't know in Advent Children. If you used gameshark in the original to have Sephiroth on your team he actually has some dialogue as if he was on the team, people also opened the game up to look for some unused dialogue and found that there was even more which assumes that he was supposed to join the crew but was scraped later on.
I also wonder how they are going to handle Wutai as they built it up pretty big here. It has to be HUGE for it to even make sense that they had a competitive war against Shinra where as in the original it is said the Wutai got curb stomped.
Alternatively, they orchestrated the war and let Wutai last as long as they did during the war

That's...literally the point. Aerith was always meant to die and you were always meant to never get her back.
I understand why people to this day are still mournful about losing Aerith and wishing there was a way to bring her back but the loss of Aerith to you not only in the story but in your party (losing your best spell caster, a niche no one else fills as good as her) is exactly why her death is impactful.
You hear children laughing after the fade to black, iirc

Finished the game last night. I was very please with it. 9/10 for me with minor complaints.
I actually am going to reserve judging the ending until we see where it takes us in the next games. If it’s done well, then the ending will probably feel a lot better to people when they end up playing one after the other. If done terribly, it’ll be considered the start of the downhill.
I hate to say it, but I do hope Aerith still dies even if she dies differently. Her sacrifice is a main plot point, and honesty I think events like that are what made ff7 the complete fanboy ff.
I have this terrible feeling SE will make it so either Tifa or Aerith dies based on who you fall in love with. Aka fall in love with Aerith? She dies. Fall in love with Tifa? She dies.
I hope not though as the game still tells me Tifa is the best.
Also, I hope w/e they are doing with Zack he never sees Aerith. I am in the camp of it’s a different timeline, but it really reduces Aerith’s feelings for Cloud if Zack comes back into the picture.
With all that being said, I was pleased. I remember SE had a lot of hesitation about doing this game because they knew they never would please everyone, and didn’t want to deal with the backlash no matter what they did. For every person who wants Aerith to still die, there’s another that wants a chance to save her.
So at the end of the day I am treating this as another version of ff7 and if I want the OG one I’ll play the original (which I plan on doing now, actually). And honestly it exceeded my expectations of what SE would do, so I think that’s why the negatives are so minor to me.
Not impossible, but I took it to mean the planet decided to not wipe em all clean following it preventing meteor. Also, advent children happened so unless a second planet wide calamity happens we don't know about then yeah, the children laughing were people lol

Cloud never had romantic feelings for Aerith. Aerith explains her interest to Cloud during their "date" outright saying that he reminded her of Zack she also goes on to say that she wants to meet Cloud meaning she knows something was wrong with him. The game also outright tells you that Cloud does indeed love Tifa, always had. They even have sex in the original game lol.
I said I wouldn't be surprised if they never show Zack from that timeline again, but now I'm thinking if him living is all part of Sephiroth's plan and not just some random thing. That would mean in that timeline Cloud possibly never becomes the person that is able to beat Sephiroth.
And Max pointed out that Sephiroth absorbs the Whispers. I'm curious if that was simply just an excuse to power up Sephiroth during the fight, or if it will be relevant later in the story with all this time/fate shit.
Wow no shit? Thanks for stating the obvious.
It doesn't make her character less frustrating because she is just a key item and not a person pretty much the entire time after you leave Midgar. And even if you couldn't save her the way the original games events played out leave you feeling frustrated at the end of it all.
Everything about Aerith's death is entirely frustrating for multiple reasons after you put aside the emotional impact of her dying.
Not sure I exactly understood what was going on in the ending
Aerith not having feelings for Cloud =/= Cloud not having feelings for Aerith. Her emotional attachment to Zach and having Cloud look and act just like him had her flirting like crazy. Cloud, up until this point, has never had a girl really look at her like this. It really isn't all that far-fetched that Aerith takes him back enough to develop a crush on her. FFVII:AC definitely shows he still can't still get over Aerith either.
It really is implied in both FF7 and FF7R he could have a crush on either or kinda both (I mean you choose the date in the first, and you choose the 1-on-1 cutscene in the remake) and if Aerith were to live, who knows which direction he would have gone in. The sex doesn't happen until after her death, so the decision between the two later on was made for him. Or you can look at Aerith as a fling and Tifa the long term.
Considering the fanboy response to Aerith I have zero doubt whatsoever that they are going to take this love triangle to the max. If Aerith ends up living..whew boy...we are gonna be Chihayafuru up in this bitch until the very end.
And again, just to clarify, I def think Tifa has the bigger claim to being Cloud's love. But I do see that the OG game was trying to let you choose, and the new game is playing off that even more.
In the super secret ending Cloud, Tifa, Aerith, Red and Zack will form a pentuple.
