Yeah the game isn't perfect but a lot of critique is hard to justify when you realize this is the first part in a multipart game. Roche not making another appearance is odd as fuck, but also Midgar is the first like 8 hours in a 40hr game so a lot of open ends left here can reappear sometime in the next 2-3 sequels.

The whispers thing was certainly a choice, i just hope they served their purpose and we can treat the rest of these games as normal unfolding of the story, and not "trying to keep the timeline changed cause we lost too much stopping sephiroth".

I'm 100% convinced the War March in Junon will be in favor of a second war with Wutai, and game 3 will have a decent portion involving war with Wutai.

It’s more a complaint on how most of the added content did little to expand the lore of the original.

It’s absolutely a legit complaint when you have chapters upon chapters dedicated to dumb shit that’s not even interesting. Or shit that just goes on for way too long like the Mako 5 reactor mission.

That's world building though. The quests aren't the most imaginative, but we got more character development between those and all those cutscenes up until the plate fall than we ever did in the original. Aerith is actually a character, with more personality in this game than the entire original, Tifa is actually more than polygon boobs to move cloud along the story, Barett was incredibly well done from bottom to top, etc.

It doesn't all land on its feet i agree, but there is more good here than bad imo.

Don’t get me wrong. I came into this game knowing there was going to be a heavy focus on Biggs, Wedge, and Jessie. I legit looked forward to it.

However, I can not give the slightest fuck about Jessie’s mom’s pizza or Corneo’s three retarded cucks.

And other than the ghost plot whisperers, what world building did they actually do? Again, just seems like they dropped the ball hard on a chance to expand lore that was little touched upon in the original.

Play the original if you just want the exact same lines and scenery as the original. If you just wanted the original with prettier graphics, play the goddamn PC mods and play the Remake's OST over everything. Done.

I fucking love the world-building and additions to the lore. Its the seasonings that make me happy, not the meat and potatoes, because I already had that with the original 7. When its already assumed that the core of something is going to be solid, it comes down to the details and minor things that truly make it stand out. The Remake crushes the original in that regard.

My only 2 major complaints are the overly-long fetch-quest chapters (we've talked them to death, with good reason) and the absolute Nomura Disney bullshit last chapter. Everything aside from those things were amazing.

Yeah i absolutely loved the extra stuff in chapter 3 with the upper plate. It was exactly what i wanted, expanding on the story. I love the personalities the avalanche crew got. It's so good. Not going to harp on the last chapter, i think we all dissected that to death, but all i'll say is that Kitase said they're reading and following fan reaction to the game to take into consideration moving forward. Considering they added all the nods to the OG ever, I have confidence they'll deliver something I'll love, even if it has some quirks. They obviously want to make people happy.

I've beaten the game twice and I'm already itching to play it again. I just want to spend more and more time in the world. A game hasn't made me feel like this in a very, very long time.
