I found a criticism of this movie I agree with; this was Captain Marvel 3.

Captain Marvel 2 was when she returns to Hala and destroys the Supreme Intelligence, plunging the Kree into Civil War, but we never saw that movie.

They would have to depower her or make her choose not to use her powers cause she's kinda busted tbh. Thanos needed the power stone to survive his brief encounter with her.

Either way, there's a lot that happened with her between Captain Marvel 1 and The Marvels that they could have done but I have to wonder if Covid just made them condense her arc.

Her reason for not returning to see Monica when she was younger didn't have a lot of weight to it cause it felt so off-screen.

The point is to make the stakes of this movie seem bigger and more consequential, we needed to see that movie, not just a 2-minute flashback from the villain's point of view.

I'll probably check it out. Not really interested in the contents of the movie, but Zealot's earlier hype has me curious about the credits scene. At least I know who to blame if it sucks, lol

Just watched this. I liked the character stuff. The plot- all of it- was just ridiculous nonsense. Every aspect of it, every decision was an asspull that had me asking “but why tho” after the fact, but during the movie it was at least an enjoyable watch. And except for the flashbacks that I thought would have made a really interesting Captain Marvel 2 instead of just narration for the lame marvel villain #28. They couldn’t even get her her own weapon, just recycling Ronan’s. Which I guess still had some Power Gem juice in it I guess?

You know what they should have done? Made some 30-60 min special to put on Disney plus that has Dar Benn as the protagonist.

Get to know the planet Hala, show us this green tentacled AI emperor that the movie just fucking skims over in 3 seconds? Get the Kree side of things. Then bring in Captain Marvel- you don’t even need Brie Larson. Show that imposing full-costume-eye-glowing monster DarBenn’s flashback made her look like. Fuck, after that, you could just make it a miniseries. Show that civil war. Because I’m sorry, but when Dar Ben’s motivation for hating Danvers was because she killed a Space-Hitler-AI which caused a power vacuum the Kree decided to blow up and decimate their own planet to fill, I just don’t see it.

Watched it. It was pretty bad. Still not as bad at Eternals though. Iman was great. The initial three way transporting fight scene was probably the best part of the movie and really well done but it fell off a cliff HARD. Post credit scene was dope though.

Watched it earlier today and the worst part of it was Brie Larson. She was so stiff and robotic throughout the whole movie. The villain was whatever. Iman was awesome as expected. Her part alone makes it better than Eternals.

Like someone on here said, it would’ve been a better Captain Marvel 3 movie and not the 2 minute flashback we get of the Hala civil war and destruction of the Supreme Intelligence.
