For as much as I look back at XI and remember being frustrated at how I never got anything, my original account had pretty much everything except a D. Ring when I quit and I got one of those when I came back. Ridill, Adaberk, Speed Belt, Ancient Torque, HQ Hecatomb set for WSing in, I didn't have a relic weapon but I remember I had whatever the next best GAX and GKT were (Hagun probably back then). Early-20s me was just upset I didn't get things first. That game really just brought out bitterness.

I never did get a Salvage group though.

horizontal gear progression was both a blessing and a curse for sure. on one hand both gear and content never really went obsolete at the 75 cap. on the other hand you carried a million items around with you for a 0.1% boost to your character
