Both grandparents, several aunts and uncles, a couple of friends from high school. I certainly miss them and wish they were still with us. I don’t seem them in everyday interactions and think they are reaching out to me from heaven or whatever because that’s just nonsense. They are dead and gone just like we’ll all eventually be. Grief should not be an excuse to forego the laws of reality.

I test materials used in construction for asbestos for a living, asbestos being a thing most people BGs age don't ever worry about cause the generation before us did a decent job of trying to rid it from our lives. That said, older buildings still have the original asbestos they were made with, or sometimes people use products that try to get away with including asbestos in them, knowingly or not.

So when I get a project for a local school and it not only contains asbestos, but contains it in materials I know for sure was exposing little children to the fibers, it makes me sad knowing some kids were breathing that shit in for likely decades (cause they never replaced the asbestos containing material until they were doing the current remodel). Nothing you can really do about it, but it makes me wonder if I'll become neurotic when I have kids and check their class every year just incase I see something that might contain asbestos. Everytime I see someone I know doing a home remodel, I'm always dropping a comment like "watch for the black adhesives!" or "get a second opinion on that brown linoleum!" Lol

My great-grandma would always pick up pennies, whenever I see a penny where I'm walking I take that as her telling me I'm headed in the right direction. Grandma Tootsie was a great lady and I would be shocked if something as common as death stopped her.

it's not an either-or kinda thing. you don't have to be delusional to be considerate and understanding. you're not being a pillar of logic and reason but rather of misguided righteousness

one might argue it's actually similarly delusional to expect a specific behavior from those suffering loss
