I don't pay much attention to lyrics a lot of times. I listen to the music itself with the vocals acting as another instrument. May sound like I'm trying to be some deep teenager, but in truth I just don't listen or understand what they're saying most of the time.

Salads example is a good one. Fitzpleasure, or most songs by alt J don't make much sense lyrically. Maybe they do if you hear an explanation, but I don't care enough for that. May also be a general habit developed from listening to Mars Volta cause most of their lyrics made zero sense as well.
