My BiL was over a few weeks ago and kept leaving the back door open. We had bugs for days. I kept going and closing it loudly behind him, but I guess he was oblivious. My wife said to me after "yeah I saw it open a lot, but I just thought you left it open." Come on now.

Yep. L.A. has had a spread of invasive mosquitos the past few years. Little shits exclusively go for hands and feet.
30 years, no bites, but now I start getting them. I've started putting DEET on the back of my hands when I go do my shifts, and they leave me alone. Wash it off when I get home.

On the rare occasion I get a bite, I've started using the hot spoon trick.
Run hot water from the tap until it's max temp, hold the back of a spoon under it for for a minute, then press the spoon to the bite for a minute. (Warning: if your water runs super hot, back it off a little.)
No more itch, and the bite mark swelling clears up in half the time.
