That sucks man, exact thing happened to someone in my company in another state. They sold their branch less than a month after he got there. He made the CEO pay for his hotel stay until everything finalized because he wasn’t about to go sign a lease anywhere.

When I worked at Motorola, this happened alot. They would move people from states with a Union, to places like Texas that's a at will work state. They would give them a raise, and bait them with cheap cost of living, wait for half a year, and lay them off.

I'ma be alright. They "encouraged" me to apply for some other positions I qualify for. Felt like I was slapped in the face and I'm reluctant but I may put my ego aside and do it just to keep myself stable. I've got options though. My life decisions in the last couple of years put me in a very comfortable position to float temporarily if I need to.

Even in my police agency there are job "postings" but someone already in mind they just have to do it officially still.
