well eva 1 itself was almost entirely alien/god while weltall the mech itself didn't have anything special going for it, only the pilot did

i don't know xenogears but i do know evangelion and i wouldn't count eva 1 out. who knows what fucky shit might happen. maybe eva 1 just decides to blossom into a bizarre alien god thing that eats mechs for breakfast. you just can't predict that thing.

Actually Evangelion I can't speak to since I only saw it when I was very young so it's possible I should give it a second chance. But I replayed Xenogears in law school and it was just a slog.
