what temperature do you guys keep your thermostat at? just ripped it off the wall cuz roommate keeps messing with it, ordering the google nest thing cuz its password protected

In the summer, 70 and it runs almost 24/7. In fall and winter 72 and it rarely if ever runs.

My old place I kept it on 76 though because I was on a first floor of a two story apartment, and surrounded by trees, so it didn’t get too hot.

I feel ya on the Nest thing though. Ambient temperature definitely needs to be something couples discuss before moving in together. I can’t imagine living with someone like my grandparents who kept it on like 82.

Ours sits at 72 year round. Think it honestly took us about a year or two of a little back and forth before we just kind of came to that natural compromise.

Oh, and energy cost need to be a big factor. Idk what region you’re in, but financial savings are typically a pretty good motivator.

Like if you were my roommate and wanted to keep it at 62 In the summer (90-100 high temps here) I’d pretty much tell you to either pay the majority of the electric bill or go fuck yourself. Not gonna she’ll out a bunch of extra cash to have an icebox to walk into.

62 especially during the summer would probably freeze my A/C from over use and make a stupid high electric bill but I live in Florida.

I do have some strange nostalgia for A/C window units because that’s what we had in the house I grew up in until I was 10. I think that’s legit a reason I need white noise to fall asleep a lot of nights. That gentle hum and blast of cold air. That’s such good shit.

My mom and dad have a Google nest at their place and they love it. They usually spend January and February each year living at a rented condo so they are constantly logging in to adjust the thermostat at their home so they don’t waste money lol
