If I'm Sony I'm not sitting on my hands watching Microsoft buy up every big name studio, I'm probably looking around to see who makes AAA games and is more in my price range, and I gotta figure Square Enix is on top of that list.

Yeah but you could say the same of like every Japanese publisher. Nintendo should be the one freaking out, none of these acquisitions have a reason to release on a Nintendo, so once the buyouts hit Japan they're gonna have to think long and hard about what their future looks like in a landscape where everyone except indies are owned by their main competitors.
