DLC tends to be smaller but games like Warhammer II and Europa Universalis/Crusader Kings were expanded through regular updates far, far beyond anything that would have been possible with classic expansions. and definitely appreciate that updated definitive editions a la Divinity Original Sin II / Kingmaker / Disco Elysium are now considered the norm. massive polishing efforts and even FLC free of cost.

i do miss some meaty expansions, but there's still a place for them nay, WoW, Dark Souls III, The Outer Wilds, AC Odyssey, all received banger traditional expansions. but on average post-release content is way better than it used to be. it's a system obviously prone to horse armor abuse but mainly its given devs more flexibility on how exactly they want to support their games, and increased their ability to do so as they can regularly monetize their work rather than risk it all on a once-a-year-or-two release cycle.

Also ice borne was a meaty xpac for monster hunter and that games dlc and modding is amazing.

I'm pretty excited for the Rise DLC later this year.

Really enjoyed the base game but it was just so light on content compared to the rest of the series, hopefully Sunbreak fixes that.

Well, gamepass you actually install the games if you're using the console or PC version, which is a major distinction from the stuff like Stadia/GeForce Now
