My department's workflow is held together by duct tape in the form of a massive web of excel spreadsheets. Because it's not customer facing, it's not a priority to budget/allocate resources to build a program for it when it's only getting worse the longer it goes on.

Isn't there a very real problem fast approaching programmers? I read it briefly the other day, but it had something to do with running out of tables? Something about everything is gonna crash in 4(?) years if it isn't taken care of.

I'm not joking either. I don't know shit about programming obviously so I can't exactly recall the issue with any great detail.
