If he's going to somewhere like Juneau it almost never goes into the negative temperatures using the freedom scale. Even places like Kodiak or Anchorage don't really dip into the negative fahrenheit range, tho they probably aren't going over 40 during the winter months.

Now if you're dumb enough to move to Nome or Dutch Harbor that's on you, those places are awful.
