Hard for women to buy a gun when they go into 10 different stores looking for the perfect gun, get distracted shopping and wind up spending $800 on completely different shit forgetting what they wanted to go buy in the first place. Same with gays.

Men dont go shopping, they go to the store, buy what they need, and go home. We focus on our goals and dont let anything distract us.

Every generation has their stupid thing. Like the last group were tide pods. Do you want to know the stupid thing this group is doing?


They are adding each other on their shared location apps. So like, a kid may know where ten of their friends are 24/7.

Which on the surface sounds not so bad…until one of those friends isn’t a friend anymore and always knows where you are.


Doesn’t help that for my students, many have gang-relations.

I’ve already lost two due to gang-related activities. I dunno if they were tracked this way, but point stands this is a hella stupid idea.

Snapchat location features, checking in on Facebook, foursquare, etc

Checking in on Facebook is completely different. That’s you manually posting where you are. Like my husband and I have our shared locations on the find people. He doesn’t ever have to send me his location. I know it 24/7.

Facebook checking also just says an area. I can pinpoint where his phone is inside the house.


I can’t speak on Snapchat as I don’t use it and don’t know how accurate it is.

Also, to point out. I’m not saying the tech is new. I’m saying it’s new for my teens to be adding each other (20+) on the find people app so they can follow each other 24/7 without needing to request a location.


I had my friend on it who was diabetic. Even after he passed away I could track his phone until it ran out of battery for good.

Snapchat location is precise and not accurate and available to all your friends, 24/7 with Google earth used when you zoom in and get clear views of the area, all hundreds and thousands of people by default not adding which ones can specifically see your location.

Because that’s why these kids are doing it. To meet up in the bathroom when they see their friends in there.

just commenting on it not being wildly different to things from the past. iirc there were several options at least for iphones to perma share your location with people you chose to for years now. i just don't see it as super strange or strange at all really. maybe if they were blanket sharing their location with the entire school but them sharing it with enough friends to barely fill a 9th grade english class isn't that wild to me sry

Thats probably because you didnt need to share your location, you were always in the bathroom waiting for the users to peddle your stuff to.

Exactly.

If you fuck up and you’re in a gang. Your specific location is now shown to a ton of people at all times. That’s scary. What if you have a fight with your friend and said friend decides to bring a gun? Now they know exactly where you are. School fights are much more likely to happen as kids have a much easier time finding each other. I think sharing your location with your family and MAYBE one person is ok, but 20 creates a lot of risks.


Also, reminder, I’m not saying the ability to do so is new, I’m saying kids sharing their location with 20+ people is new.

To add: for anyone saying you can remove people, think less like a rational adult and more like a teenager. Girl showed me she still follows everywhere her ex boyfriend goes. We’re creating a generation of creepy stalkers.
