men's fashion is trash except for the king of spain's suits.
I can't bring myself to invest in a bespoke suit cuz of the cost. My first nice suit was black and the cost of the suit plus custom tailoring ran me 1.5k... then I lost weight. Bought another nice suit (charcoal grey) at that time, but had to get the jacket specially taken in for another $400.
Now I've lost more weight and I don't think they can alter the black to size anymore (would now be down two full sizes vs. my size at the start), and it will be another couple Benjamins to get the charcoal grey altered.
As much as I love formal wear (I hate it much less than a lot of people I know), it's just not worth it with how seldom I use it. I only wore a full a coat for court appearance or arbitration before I went remote, and I don't engage in much of any fancy leisure activity that requires formal wear.
I've found that tailored slacks and a fuckin dope set of jackets is a better investment. suits are lame.
I personally think I look my physical best in a nice three-piece suit.
On this topic, where do people like to get their dress shirts? I have always done Charles Tyrwhitt as a compromise between cost and quality. Are Brooks Brothers shirts worth the upcharge?
I used to wear only suits because I thought it made me look like a wealthy guy, then I realized truly wealthy people wear whatever they want.

I think a well fitting suit makes you look good. Obviously there is some sort of financial gateway to wearing a nice suit versus a bargain brand of separates, but wealth isn't so much the point as style. Like the whole point of that thread is to point out how the king looks good because the suit is flattering.

That guy is starting to grind my gears. He talks all the time about how you don't need a huge closet worth thousands, just a few basic items but then I look at his few basic items and the outfit is still $200+ and he's pretending like people aren't going to talk behind your back when you show up to every social event wearing one of three very plain outfits.
I like him when he's showing how something fits, less so when he's pretending that having a few solid colors is all you need. Dude pretends everyone is an extra on TV and no one will notice the lack of wardrobe.
