I had a new water heater installed about a month ago and the heat was fine for handwashing and dishes but just didn't get hot enough for me in the shower so I asked them to adjust the temp lock, they completely removed it and said just be careful so I don't burn myself. So now I can get my shower to the temp I enjoy, but hot water in the sinks turns to molten lava and I have to wash my hands in like 5-6 seconds before it heats all the way up. And yeah, I could just turn on the cold water at the same time to level it out but I enjoy the challenge.

my kids are scared of the hot water in our house and with good reason, that shit is a bit too hot to the touch fast as hell in our hall tub/shower, it's like 3 feet from the water heater outside.

i've started pouring a boiling kettle in the tub when running a bath because the water heater doesn't do enough and i need to wince when going in

we got a new heat pump water heater in the basement and i'll tell you what it is fucking awesome. It takes a solid 30 seconds to get moving but it rocks Japanese hot hot water. we had an old gas-powered tankless system and it was draining my soul and wallet. now we have a big ass deep tub that I can use to turn my bathroom into a sento briefly and it helps retain my sanity.

on the other end of things, we got the bathroom redone like 2-3 years ago and the paint on the ceiling above the bath is already peeling in a big way. i can't reach out to the contractor because he's a fucking asshole i won't work with anymore but i don't know how to do painting.

also i'm p sure he grouted the join between the tub and wall instead of caulking and its now cracking.

We live in the "Heights" part of our town and I routinely make fun of our neighbors like a quarter mile away who do not. I tell them to go harvest my wheat and cranberries.

Thankfully they are big fans of Monty Python and they just yell back about being repressed.

We probably seem weird to outsiders.
