This was inspired by walking past a line of exercise bikes at my gym with TV screens on them and thinking "boy what if I could game while doing cardio," followed immediately by "Actually I would hate that, but if they were in direct proximity to each other that would be pretty sweet."

Plus it could encourage some nerds to get in shape.

It’s Dr Seuss week and that triggered a core memory for me.

Y’all remember in the late 90s/early 00s people used to unironically wear those Cat-In-The-Hat hats to parties and shit? And all the sports teams had versions made with their team colors. Yes, I had one. I remember you could only wear it for a few minutes without starting to sweat cause it was like all wool cotton.

anyway been playing last epoch but last night was the first night where the servers were pretty stable and was able to take my multishot marksman up to the mid 40s. was playing a whirlwind void knight as an offline char when the servers were shit and that was fun too but much more boring than the marksman

anyway the game rules and blizzard should be ashamed of themselves for d4, and I haven’t even gotten to endgame yet which is supposedly good too

The only major complaint I have about the endgame experience is that the game never really gets all that hard. But that also lets you get away with much more build variety, you're not pigeon holed into specific builds to get to experience all the content.

Do you guys think if Ned Stark had tried to dutifully serve as Joffrey’s hand that he would have been a positive influence and maybe changed his ways? Joffrey supposedly did think very highly of Robert and might not have been so quick to dismiss Robert’s best friend. Or do you think Cersei and Tywin and Littlefinger were already dug in too deep with Joffrey that a redemption was never possible?

Never possible. He was always a shit and in attempting to control him like they did anyway, he'd be more of a shit. The only way Ned could have gotten anywhere was by killing Jamie and Cercei from the jump.

Joffrey is presented as a textbook psychopath, in the books he slices open a pregnant cat as a child to show Robert the unborn kittens at which point Robert promptly blasts him into next week. psychopaths / people with ASPD can be tamed and most don't ever become serial killers or the like, but Joffrey was raised by a vicious and enabling mother + an absent and abusive father. worst of all a court culture that allowed him to indulge in his worst impulses with little pushback. Ned could not have changed his nature, even today with all our drugs and all our neuroscience it is not considered a curable condition.

if someone could have gotten to him younger and he was not gifted excessive amounts of ungoverned power maybe he could have been taught to manage his disorder in a healthier way. too late in the day for Joffrey by the time Ned got there tho.
