Fwiw I moved across the country when I was 26. This helps me see the goings on of stuff back home. It’s p. awesome to watch my childhood friends’ kids grow up, even though we don’t interact much anymore.

Social media has all but just about destroyed the concept of high school reunions imo. People I want to keep tabs on, I already am. People that I don't, I'm not. Which is a good thing!

Occasionally I'll think about one guy or gal from grade school days and be like hmmm wonder what they're up to because I can't find them on social. Usually they are dead or in prison lol

Yeah, I have curated my people to a pretty solid group at this point. I feel like half of getting older was really trimming the fat on social circles. I'm probably weird but I don't give a single bother about the town I grew up in. I don't hate it but I certainly don't keep track of it at all. Haven't been back in a solid 5+ years at this point and my brother lives like 20 minutes away from there.

I've been back to my hometown for a grand total of like 7 days in the last 15 years. Everyone I liked growing up moved far away and anyone who still lives there is probably a meth head
