Got in a fight with my uncle earlier today and I THOUGHT we were good when at the end of the call he asked "are we good?" And I said "yeah, we're good, and I'm sorry I spoke to you in anger, I appreciate you giving me your side of things." Then I get a call from my mom an hour later because he's texting her about how mad he is over how I spoke to him.

Like what the fuck man, the whole reason I called in the first place is you did something that made my mom upset and now after you tell me we're good you drag her into it?

Idk man, that seems like fair game to me. He's allowed to be frustrated with you, and vent it to his sister. He can still be good with you, but he can talk to his sister too ya know

That's fair, it just feels disingenuous in light of our conversation, especially since part of it was him saying "if you have a problem with me you should talk to me first before anyone else."

Ehh yeah if he said that then that's a little bitch of a move lol. Don't go saying we can settle this ourselves and we don't need to talk to anyone else, then vent and throw you under the bus later

I’ve never really been to the real country upstate. Yeah I’ve been to spots like Buffalo and Syracuse. But holy shit! Watertown/Fort Drum is an entirely different beast altogether. It’s a colossal dump of nothingness. Just flat fields, dilapidated houses, and zombie meth heads. It for real feels like the edge of the world.

Definitely have no reason to go back there ever again.

I went to visit my brother when he was at Fort Drum many years ago and it was absolutely nothing back then too.

It's always funny how shitty the surrounding area for some military bases is. Like the area immediately around Naval Base San Diego is AWFUL (I mean it is technically Cholo Vista, so makes sense)

Like, at least Buffalo has shit to do. In Watertown we were approached by some dude high as balls missing most of his teeth bragging about how he only missed 5 days of fishing last year.

They’re so miserable up there they don’t even realize it.

I liked living in Fort Huachuca and going out to Sierra Vista to see a movie at the one-screen theater or rent a game from Blockbuster (Blockbuster coming to town was actually a big deal, before that there was only two independent stores, Movies to Go and Hastings).

Yeah it's really not blue state vs red state, it's urban vs rural. Or rather, is a state large enough that the populations of the urban areas outnumber the "simple" folk?

The area of California between the Bay and Los Angeles is basically Alabama.
