In medicine we're encouraged to keep students who are struggling, even if they're not interested, because the stigma of failing out and being hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt that could lead to their ruin and suicide is higher than the risk of incompetent doctors. Some of them finish, some of them still don't get it.

My admin said they would support me but warned me that it would be exhausting vs some of these parents, and that most older teachers just give this family their way.

Final Fantasy VI probably does ensemble casts better than any other game in the series, especially when you take the overall size into consideration. Besides Umaro and Gogo (who's an FFV easter egg), every single character in that cast has a well-developed story that gets to play out and be concluded. Unfortunately dividing the game between two protagonists, Terra in the first half and Celes in the second, doesn't give either time to get the treatment of other FF leads and so no one in the entire game (besides the villain) really rises to become an iconic part of the Final Fantasy zeitgeist.

TIL that elevator mechanic is the most elite and sought after job in the mechanical world. Apparently you have to get extremely lucky to get into the trade union to be one and usually have to know someone to get in.

kind of? it's definitely one of the higher hour in trade jobs that exists. the base ends up around 100k after a 4 year intro stint. the luck is more of being in the right area geographically and scoring well on the intro test. the "elite" part is a bit overstated, they just don't need a lot of guys so they usually don't take more then 50 a year here (Eastern MA). Best way to get in is to work for one of the local elevator servicers in a non-trade job and network in.

how do i know about this? we have one of the best trade high schools in the country out here and i talk to a bunch of the teachers bc they swim at my Y. Out here they basically tell EVERYONE to be a plumber, carpenter, or HVAC installer. because the work is insanely steady. They have been shifting a lot over to heavy equipment and electrician recently because of the wind farm/solar boom.
