Side effect of the absolute reduction of content. If you spend 2 eps in a 22 ep season doing character work or otherwise not pushing the plot it's more accepted than when seasons are 8 episodes long.

We get what we pay for, and we're paying for far less television nowadays.

I'm mad nobody around here is into stats, data science/machine learning and larping as a sysadmin. I can't just bitch about specification curves and have like two people chuckle and pitch in. Yeah that sucks bro. I have an editor friend who has a pretty amazing resume, and he’s struggling to get editing gigs, too.

His wife has even told him they can move anywhere as long as he gets a job, but there’s nothing out there. He gets like a 1 month gig every few months or so. It’s rough.

Most reality is produced for cable tv, which is in terminal decline. Streaming is far more scripted-focused, they aren't taking advantage of cheaper reality tv to build a customer base.
