Ackshully, in 2005 the topic was UN Peacekeeping. My plan was "The U.S. should advocate in the U.N. Security Council for the creation of a U.N. Peacekeeping Operation in Darfur, and forward deploy its military troops located in Djibouti into Sudan to stabilize the situation in anticipation of the establishment of a U.N. mission."

I was working on Capitol Hill when the earthquake hit them and one day I walk in and the Legislative Director stopped me when I came in the door and said hey Mr. Rangel is meeting the Dominican delegation in 30 minutes and wants to talk to them about the shit they're doing to Haitians, get something to back us up. So I went and found the DRs signature on the U.N. Treaty against the creation of stateless people, meaning they were forbidden by international law from taking action which would result in anyone not having a home country. Wrote that up, gave it to the Congressman, he speaks to them, about a month later their high court went nah, we're actually not just refusing to take in refugees, all the Haitians born inside DR territory are being stripped of their citizenship, even though they aren't Haitian citizens either and this directly violates the treaty we signed.
