It’s time we petition Lord British buys Ultima from EA back, give it to a better company and have said company make Ultima 10.

We got my 10 year old son Fortnite (only can mic with friends and can’t spend money).


Watching him one shot everyone yet can’t be the last survivor because he falls to his death by going too fast has cleared up a lot for me about Genjis in Overwatch.

It was a rough call. His bff’s mom is also kinda strict. Neither have phones and she doesn’t allow fb messenger. His friend has Fortnite and Roblox, and oddly enough after spending years researching the two we went with Fortnite. It has better parent controls. So far he’s doing ok. No like scream at each other, but he mostly likes to play the silly parkour stuff.

We got him to try ranked though and it’s hysterical.

I debated it and we are trying to be super restrictive. Reality is mommy and daddy are both gamers. Daddy makes video games. Son wants to be just like daddy.

So we figured we may as well teach them how to handle games properly so they don’t go in debt and become slobs who play 24/7.

Kids are super busy doing other stuff too so playtime is limited.

We were spared having to talk or just generally interact with random people while playing online.

If you wanted to talk shit while gaming it either had to be right next to them on the couch/arcade or maybe you were some richy rich with two phone lines to call your buddy while playing them over TCP IP

Me from 2004 until I moved to college until 2006 playing FFXI

Me: “Hey how do I (xyz)?!”

Everyone: “Look it up on wiki or the guide on this random website.”

Me: *sighs* “Okay…”

Then had to log out of FFXI on my PS2, swap phone cord (yes, phone cord not Ethernet) to the family computer, boot up my 56k modem and load the website. Find the answer (or maybe don’t), unplug phone cord again and plug back into PS2, load up FFXI again thru POL, log back in again. Whole process would take like a minimum 15 minutes @_@
