Off the rails like I was going to call it "Thief of Magic" and the part where that's important is now less than 25% of the total story.
I'm trying to focus on just getting to The End and not worrying about how bad it is until after that.

Oh man, keep your fingers crossed.
Recap:
We had to drop off my uncle at the hospital to force them to find a care placement for him.
Mom is going to sell her home and split her time between my house and my sister’s.
We leave tomorrow, and we’re feeling sad in a lot of ways. My uncle just made a mess of the downstairs of the house. There are books and guitars everywhere. Plus this is going to be my last time seeing the inside of my childhood home.
Next thing you know, my daughter cries there is a cat in the screened porch. Maybe a 6 month old kitten was there meowing to get in.
We let it in because they have all kinds of wild animals out there.
My parents have had pets all their lives, but when my mom’s last cat died she was afraid to get another.
I can tell she’s trying so hard to remain calm as we post on fb groups to see if it is anyone’s, but I can hear a happiness in her voice.
Now I know she could go to the shelter to get any number of cats, but I think she’d be a lot more willing to keep one that fell into her lap rather than go actively seek one out. And it would give me peace of mind, too. My uncle drove her nuts, but tomorrow after we leave will be the first time in her life she’d be truly living alone (it will take a bit to get the house in order to sell, and uncle moved in right when my father died), so this will keep me at peace knowing she won’t be completely lonely.
Obviously if it isn’t meant to be it isn’t, but it’s very serendipitous if it is.
Also, true to form:
Me, “I warn you, you will hear banging at night.”
My daughter, “Oh from it bumping into things?”
Me, “No, they like to run on the piano.”
And it just happened lmao.
Sometimes God sends cats.
I joked to my mom saying, “This is God telling you that you must always be taking care of someone.” And if there is a God, I would say that is true. The timing is rather crazy. But I don’t want to get our hopes up, either. I know she’ll do the right thing and take a serious effort to find the owner. And if she does, I know she’ll both be sad, but not go to a shelter to get a different one. We have tons of pets in our home so she has them, but she won’t always be with us. I think she plans on getting a tiny place in FL for when she goes to stay near my sister’s since my sister’s husband is a jerk, so it would be nice for her to have a cat with her.
She secretly got up just now to feed it some more turkey.
Oh man. If this doesn’t work out ima have to get my mom a kitten.
Left for the airport and she booked it to the store to get cat food and litter. She was really excited!
It’s kinda amazing.
Further proof they are truly the alpha species on this planet. We are all but really servants to our furbaby overlords.
