I played the free trial on PSN and just barely got off the ship before my time expired. But I gotta say. Nothing really reached out and grabbed me. Also it was very clear that playing with a controller was the inferior way of playing and it didn’t seem optimized for controller at all.

I've gotten stuck in my book probably less than 100 pages from the finish line. It's not a good book; like I hope the writing is good and people are intrigued enough by the premise that anyone who reads it wants me to do more but the book as it is just wildly fails as a narrative. Characters disappear, stuff that's hinted at never gets resolved, whole plot points vanish. I let the scope get completely away from me. I thought I had made peace with that and was just going to keep writing until the ending and then focus on making the changes I know it needs while letting some people read it and give feedback simultaneously. But now I'm staring down the ending and knowing it's gonna be unsatisfactory and rushed is killing my motivation to write anything else.

Hemingway said he rewrote the last page of A Farewell to Arms 39 times so dissatisfaction with an ending is not new hat. don't think i've mentioned it here but i have my own mild aspirations of a career in writing and have had some short works published. the first draft is not the easiest but it ought be the least time consuming. you will generally spend far more time and energy rewriting a work to get it where you want it to be than you spend writing it initially. you can take some time to think out at least a moderately more satisfying resolution, but of greatest importance is getting it onto the page where the longer work of turning something interesting into something good can begin.

it is impressive you've self-motivated yourself this far Zels, bit further and you can say you wrote a book brother.

This is what turned The Wheel of Time from six books to 14. Finish what you need to, then that serves as your skeleton. Then go back and start fixing all those errors to expand it, start to finish. Whatever is a complete arc serves as the ending point for the first book.

Or do what Martha Wells did for Murderbot Diaries. Novella length stories with continuity. Don't be afraid to break things up so the plot is more focused.

Chuck Tingle made his thing writing absurdist erotica short stories and now Tingle is a legit novelist with Bury Your Gays getting a fair amount of acclaim.

    Or the webserial route.
I read stuff that's been running for years, has multiple books/thousands of chapters.

Decent ones have patreons in the thousand dollar range. The most riotously successful have $5k and $10k a month

Just do what Murata does with OPM and rewrite the chapters months after release, staying on the current arc for years as you rewrite work you did months ago.
