The thing is Luis Guzman is spot on picture-perfect casting for Gomez based on the original comics. We just all got the image of the handsome Raul Julia in our heads.

And the problem is? Especially as a 90s kid. I’m completely aware of the character’s origin. Raul Julia just made it so much better I’d argue it’s a DC Harley Quinn type scenario. Easily better than whatever the source material did or did not do.

I'm not arguing against handsome Gomez, I'm saying one man's portrayal (though John Astin certainly contributed) transformed out entire perception of the character that was over 50 years old at that point.

The moon is a great example of how familiarity affects things because if we had no concept of the moon and someone told you about a planet where a two-thousand mile chunk of rock that glowed in the dark just hung overhead at all times I think you'd have strong feelings about that.

Does anyone else have zero grip strength when they first wake up or is that just me? First five minutes or so of being awake. Can’t rip open my drink powder mix. Can’t rip open pack of oatmeal. Can’t unwrap a protein bar. I got nothing. It arrives after I’m awake a couple minutes but those first roll out of bed moments, about the only thing I can hold is my dick while I’m taking a piss.

You should get your neck looked and make sure you dont have any cervical nerve issues.

I just had two cervical epidurals in the last two weeks, one for each side of my C5/C6 vertebrae and it's the first time I've been relatively pain free in weeks, so I'm looking at disk displacement surgery most likely

Well that's immediately a good sign. Could get your heart checked out because sometimes that's a sign of poor circulation. Otherwise cervical impingement could cause similar symptoms but it doesn't usually get better over the day as your spine tends to compress, not relax.
