They can also be improved in DnD by leveling and with equipment. But if you roll a 12 on your INT your cap will always be -6 behind the guy that rolled an 18. You might surpass that guy because you have better gear, because he fucking dies at level 1, etc. But his potential will always be higher even if it is never realized.

Posting to remind you IQ is just how fast we process shit. Now, having a high IQ may mean you learn stuff faster, which can be seen as an advantage, but it can also mean you end up having like an ADD type behavior where it slips as fast as it comes in. And the brain may not know wtf to do with the knowledge it has learned.

My uncle is a legit genius and knows at least 5 languages of which he reads novels in constantly.

He also has worked a min-wage job all his life and hides his money inside the walls so the feds can't have it.

I don't have a genius IQ, but it's really close, and you've seen me post, so there's that.

I can learn most things put in front of me, way faster than those around me. I will also forget what I learned about ten minutes later. I don't get to "read" much anymore because I basically reread the texts I teach year after year because I forget the majority of what happened by the time it comes around to teaching it again.

The idea that INT = IQ is off the mark. When I say intelligence I am talking about someone like Da Vinci who, despite the limitations of his time, designed a working helicopter. Einstein who formulated theories that modern physics are still proving correct almost a century after. These people would achieve much more born today than they did in their actual lifetimes, but what made them special was innate genetic lottery.
