I'm beginning to think a major flaw in the world is that dungeon crawling for loot isn't an option.

I think if traveling the world fighting monsters and exploring ancient ruins was a viable profession a lot more people would be happier. Or at least occupied.

This is similar to a thought I has when I was playing EVE Online. It's a real functioning economy, and you can fucking lose everything.
But if you do, there is always a fair job (missions/mining/etc) available that lets you climb the ladder again. Real life, not so much.
