Vibrancy means fuck-all if you don't define it. Sandboxes also exist and work well. What you probably mean in bringing up sandboxes is depth and yes, depth still exists. Do not conflate difficulty and depth.

Nah. I am seeing them at least 2 times when they come to LA. I hope to secure two more to see all 4 LA shows.

But this will be my first time actually watching a Cup Final XD

There are rumors they are going to sing a new song, but I seriously doubt it.

1. There are just too many singers performing for 11 minutes.
2. They are performing in Paris the day before so will be jet lagged as fuck.

My guess is they will do My Universe or a remix of The Astronaut (maybe that's the "new" song) to kill two birds with one stone. Both are collabs with Coldplay, the first with BTS the second with BTS member Jin-Chris Martin's crush lol.

Anyone want to humor me who may not know these dudes and will at least watch/listen to these two songs with an open mind and tell me what you think? Put subtitles on.

I'm bored and tbh I don't have many dudes to get their perspective on this. I think a lot of guys are scared away from them since the only songs that hit mainstream are their pop songs, and their fanbase is like 95% women. I legit think more would actually like them if they listened to certain songs. They're styles are all over the place and they often even say, "what are we?" when it comes to genres.

You can scroll past my words, but they will help explain the lyrics.

For a little background: Yoongi was the second to join BTS at the age of 17. He was already an underground rapper/producer and joined as such (with the initial promise he would only be rapping and no dancing lol). He (and the rest of the members) were also given the opportunity to do any solo work while they were together as they wanted.

Which was kinda a bitch tbh. There are three rappers: Yoongi/Suga/AgustD, Namjoon/RM (the leader and who the group was formed for as he was also an underground rapper), and Hobi/J-Hope (hired as a dancer, Yoongi and Namjoon taught him how to make rap lyrics).

Yoongi and Namjoon's life was basically staying up until about 4am writing lyrics/creating beats/creating music/producing. Passing out until about 7am, then going into dance/music practice until it was time to write more lyrics. The other 5 also had shitty schedules, but they were different. All of them often got only 1 day off a month if that, and survived off of chicken and rice. They also had to share 1 bedroom for all 7 of them in the beginning.

Yoongi and Namjoon's earlier solos were mixtapes, usually of their songs that either a. got rejected or b. got reworked to fit the group. Their company was absolutely adamant that any lyrics they wrote needed to be their authentic selves, which is nice in a way. When you read their lyrics, you can tell that this is them, and not some made up shit. Like they don't do the whole "oh what it's like to be poor" songs ever since they hit big because they know they aren't.

Yoongi and RM had to face a lot of shit though. There's interviews/posts/articles back in the day of other rappers/hip hop artists in Korea mocking them for giving up being rappers to be idols and look "girlie" by wearing eyeliner and shit. So this first song is one Yoongi wrote/produced as a diss track back when he was 23:



Now this next song is a much more mature Yoongi. The band all stopped in 2022 because 1. They had to start doing their mandated military service, which was staggered times. 2. Namjoon and the rest seemed to be having a nervous breakdown due to all the stress and overwork they were having, but will full intention to get back together in 2025. (why they are touring now).

This song he initially wrote during COVID, but he's talked in interviews about the struggles the group faced because no other Kpop band had gotten as big as them, so they had no one to go to for advice when they were struggling on what to do. So this is his message to anyone else who struggles.(He's also mentioned retiring the Agust D name as he feels no longer "angry". I think it also could be because he knows he's going to be busy again now that the group is back, and when he can, he does producing for other artists, so may not have time.



He btw, I find fascinating the most because often Kpop male groups lose members/disband once the military requirement hits. He can play the guitar/keyboard, produces his own music, and produces for other artists, and even had a youtube show he hosted. If he was just in it for the money/music, he had no reason to return.

But the dude even broke down on stage during his solo tour, and is desperately trying (and mostly failing) to get the other members to learn instruments so they can keep "performing until they are 90." It shows how much love they have for being together.
