Most of the k-pop bands, male or female, have someone who raps

THAT'S WHAT I AM TRYING TO TELL YOU. (Though they also do what you said.)

Scroll straight to the videos if you don't want to read. All I ask is read the lyrics, and keep an open mind, because they are not what you think.

It's because they do both and in recent years they did a lot more pop. During Covid they made Dynamite because they wanted to give their fans happier songs since the world was shit. It was such a hit and got nominated for a Grammy, they started chasing one. They haven't gotten it yet, but it is extremely likely they will get one this year because the Grammys are adding a Kpop category.

These are two of RM's songs (1st. mixtape rap 2nd. alternative hip hop? idk what you'd call it.) He is the leader and the reason the group was formed.

This is fair. And they are guilty of it, too, sometimes. And embarrassingly, when they first started they tried to make RM look like he was black (not skin-wise, he's already tan, but hair/clothes). Thankfully, they got rid of that pretty quickly.

My defense for BTS is: they are on a different level and I am not sure they should be even considered just "kpop" at this point.

RM/Suga as I said were already underground rappers. The group was supposed to be just a rap group, but it morphed into a k-pop group by the time they debuted.

They are also one of the few that actually makes their own music. To be clear: Their company often takes what RM/Suga/J-Hope write/composes and rearranges everything with them to fit the 7 members (the team are also helping to make those decisions), so it's not always 100% them.

They did some very minor training with Coolio (asshole to them), Warren G (who fucking loves them and collabed with them), and Iris Stevenson (woman who Sister Act 2 was based on) to help with their sound.

Current Hip Hop artists be chasing them, too. Busta Rhymes begged them for a photo at the AMAs and said he wanted to collab. They've collabed with Nas, Snoop, J. Cole, Megan thee Stallion.

Their current album has two songs co-produced with Mike WiLL Made-It.

Every artist/collaborator who has worked with them has said that they really know their shit when it comes to rappers/styles/beats/etc. And they don't like it whenever someone tries to diss them.

They are still trying to get their name more into the general population, but at least those that know them, respect them.

With that being said, do Suga/RM/J-Hope make all their the beats? No. Do they make a decent amount of them? Yes. Are they writers of their rap lyrics? yep.

They are two opposites when it comes to songwriting: RM starts with a phrase, builds lyrics then song based on the phrase. Suga makes the beat, then builds lyrics based on the beat. So if it originated from Suga, it is probably his beat. If it originated from RM, it was probably a beat given by one of the other producers.

Zoey is the lyricist of the group. She grew up in Burbank, USA and when she raps she goes hard!

I forgot to mention: Fuck Drake, but even he chasing that BTS popularity boost:

And then this guy also trying to chase that BTS bump by sampling Jimin in the beginning, which is hilarious:

They modeled Kpop off 80s/90s R&B and rap, repackaged it and sold it to white kids and made a multi-billion dollar industry off it.

The appeal about kpop bands is 70% music and 30% packaging. Honestly, if the song is good no matter the genre they'd still be successful with the 30% packaging.

I think I mentioned earlier, their digital footprint is huge. Especially in the beginning. They did their own vlogs/twitter posts every few days. They have a series of behind the scenes clips called Bangtan Bombs of which there are 600+ of. They have a variety show that has over 150 episodes. And then they have an app where they do live streams with fans among other things.

Thankfully, they've slowed it down a little and don't do them as often as they used to, so hopefully they won't burn out again. Though the youngest member, Jungkook just did a livestream a couple weeks back for 3 hours straight. Then that little snot did it for 1 minute the other day. >: (

And these dudes are fucking hilarious. I have no desire to get into any other kpop band, because it isn't just music. I just want to listen/watch these guys and enjoy the chaos.

All kpop bands do this kinda stuff btw. They just are the ones that were able to do it on a massive global scale.

They weren't the first, but they are by far the biggest. The only person who came before them that would have been considered global was PSY (Gangam Style), who even he had Suga produce a song for him when they were coming back out of COVID.

Also, ty guys for humoring me!

My husband has probably heard enough. He ain't complaining though. He is even all for me buying the merch and multiple concert days and such.

It's because he's gotten some good benefits out of this madness.

I told him I don't know when it ends, but there are women who have liked them since the beginning and they say it never ends. So I think I am stuck in here forever. It feels weird.

I didn't bring it up earlier, but when I was talking about the craziness with my job, they are the ones that helped me get through it. It's a funny story.

So when I first started listening to them I would get a random song stuck in my head every day. Which I thought was weird but w/e. Then the day they were letting everyone go I was the last to get called in. It was scheduled though so I had to go through the whole day with it.

What song was stuck in my head? Hooligan. If you didn't listen to it in my previous post, I recommend it so it makes sense as to why that is so fucking funny. Because they have this annoying laugh in it, and that was the part I kept hearing over and over again.

So when they pulled me in, I really should have been upset/crying as they told me I would not be renewed. And as they were saying it, all I could hear was, "HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA" and had to do everything in my power to not burst out laughing.

Then as I delved into all their shit with their lyrics, they theme really screams "fuck the haters and love yourself" and I was feeling pretty good the rest of the school year. And any time the district admin would walk by it was like they were afraid I would say something, and then be fucking puzzled as shit that I was just living life and not giving a crap.

And I think that confidence boost helped me get my current job, which so far is amazing btw. I actually got to work from home yesterday. That is normally unheard of for my job.

This morning we were in our beds just chilling on the phones. My husband started laughing and poking me saying, "Look at you with your big grin on your face."

I didn't realize I hadn't been happy and myself. I thought I was doing ok, but apparently he saw me as being stressed and sad for quite sometime, and I didn't even realize it. And when you hear stories of other women getting into this they all say the same story.

TBH though, this is a cult. Let's be real. I am in a cult. But I think a harmless one, albeit I have to be financially careful. Which is nuts. I usually run the other way screaming anytime something seemed cult-like yet somehow this caught me.

I told my husband I will always ask and listen to him if he says no I will honor it because I don't want to go too far.

That is the way I feel about Hatsune Miku. I don't talk about it much here or to people I know in person. My family or friends would think I'm crazy. For example a couple of my relatives know I like anime and they believe I am literally retarded. I could go on and on about the music, the characters, the upcoming concert in London on November 12 in the same arena they had the Olympics in that I would kill to go to..

Anyways. I am kinda at a place in my life where I am beyond caring what people think about my Miku fandom. Listening to the music, playing the games, collecting the rare stuffs, all bring me joy.
