I miss nyc pizza, halal carts and taco trucks. I'd kill for like 10 lengua tacos right now.

they even have proper lengua tacos in NYC
The biggest thing I miss from living in Europe was the doner kebab stands. Even at 2am they’d be there feeding an assload of drunk Germans.
I miss the good delis in NYC. I can't find an Italian combo worth a damn up here.
Sal, Kris and Charlie's is the go-to and I don't think I'll ever find an Italian combo to beat them.
Has the phrase “subverting expectations” ever not annoyed anyone with the final product?
Feels like it’s dog whistle for “we’re going to suck tremendous ass because if you don’t get it then 2deep4u.”
I mean the classic subversion is the killing off of a big star/character early on when the expectation is they are the main protagonist and have plot armor, Ned Stark (although casting Sean Bean may have hinted at it lol), Drew Barrymore in Scream, Marion in Psycho, etc etc.
Successfully pulling the rug out from underneath the reader/viewer can be a great payoff if done right, but too often "subversion" is used as an excuse for "my shitty writing didn't go over well" or creators intentionally pissing off fans to be edgy.
feels like a bizarre flex over poor people
That's quite a take.
I think they are trying to take the “hot water kills bacteria” route on that which, yeah I get that, but just scrubbing the plate and rinsing in cold water works just fine. It’s when you get to washing dishes en masse in a dishwasher that you need the hot water because they aren’t going to scrub or be as thorough as a human hand would be.
poor people... don't have hot water to do dishes
we still talking North American poors not East Pakistan village poors right
I don’t think Pakistani poors would waste potable water on dishes
