This is actually the best or worst time to do it.

With the next patch they're going to revamp the 1-50/2.x main story quest line, and stuff is gonna get ripped out, so if you wanna see everything, best to do it now.
But if you hate playing an RPG to read stuff and see a story, and feel like all that is a slog, then the revamp is gonna make 1-50 much faster, but the next patch isn't likely for another month, minimum.

14 was pretty terrible. If you think it's 11 or anything close to it you'll be disappointed. It's very easy to play. I mean you can do absolutely horrible at everything and still progress rapidly.

Dunno about rapidly. For the current moogle tomestone event, I did Darkhold and Vale queued since I needed them for NIN relic too, and it was a fucking slog.
Didn't run to the next crystal, ranged in cleaves of the last boss, didn't touch fruits, healer was a DPS head that forgot to heal, etc.

Now I'm just doing 24-man roulette for weekly tomestones, with a Orbonne chaser if it wasn't one of the 4.x ones. Since I still need some orchestrion rolls and Balthier's rings.
