Murders plummeted since they disbanded.

Lay off department, go to county/state in the meantime. Require residency, 2+2 associates/military or 4yr degree. Require officers to stay residents even after being hired. Community policing, visibility, street cops. Hired from within the municipality to serve the area they live in forces accountability, it's their own community and home they are serving and their actions and inactions will have more meaning. Abolish police unions and only allow TWU/IAFF/FMBA presence, not PBA. Focus on removing police from mental health situations by increasing the number of pess and crisis staff. Police play psychiatrists when they aren't and their version of protecting those that are harmful to themselves is the wrong version.

The psychiatrist thing is so real. First thing cops in Kansas do is drop them off at a hospital if they don't flat out arrest them for being "drugged out of their mind". Quick talk later and you just find out they haven't been taking their meds.

That's AFTER they spend 30-60 minutes playing doctor with them on scene, not letting EMS or anyone else in because it's not safe/secure.

Always hated going to pess calls. Standby forever waiting for PD to allow you in, get there to find out they are basically forcing someone to go to the hospital and removing them from their own home.
