The "revolutionaries" have released their list of demands to Seattle.

Ugh, fucking people. The movement is awesome and then you have this shit level of demands. Was listening to one of my super left podcasts "Daily Zeitgeist" while on a walk yesterday and getting so annoyed by their dislike of the "8 Can't wait" demands, which I agree some are too vague or already in practice and obviously not working, but they cited the "8 to Abolish" which were beyond fucking vague with things from this list like "Free everyone in jail in retry them"...the fuck? You can't actually do that, just from the sense that it would cripple the legal system which already suffers from backcases and cost so much $$.

We demand the abolition of imprisonment, generally speaking, but especially the abolition of both youth prisons and privately-owned, for-profit prisons.

I agree with youth prisons and for profit prisons, but we still need a prison system imo.

I agree with youth prisons and for profit prisons, but we still need a prison system imo.

Youth prisons are for the most part a joke. My brother when he was a teen, kept getting busted for stupid shit. Mainly possession, under the influence, etc. when he was a teen. Eventually they sent him to a group home in Frenso called Thunder Road for 6 months. He told me that time there, he did more drugs in 6 months while at this "youth camp" then a large chunk of his teen years combined.

I remember my brother telling me one weekend, he kept sneaking out (without a license) borrowing my dad's truck to go joyriding with friends. Woke up monday to ditch school and refill the gas tank as it dawned on him he blew through an entire tank of gas and didn't want to get caught. Well he left with the truck to gas it up, and came home to my mother on the phone with 911 reporting a stolen vehicle. He didn't know she was only working a half day due to a doctors appointment. So that was pretty awkward.

I don't think you need prisons. You need something, but the US prison system in its current iteration, even non-profit ones, isn't necessary.

The answer is not to release everyone until you figure it out though, lol

Big difference between not letting someone trespass on private property and outlawing sleeping in public, installing "homeless proof" benches, making picking recycling out of public trash illegal, panhandling, loitering, etc etc.

In D.C. there’s a homeless community on a road that’s under the bridge. One day a bunch of lights were installed underneath the bridge, and I’ve been meaning to find out if those are heaters or something lol.
