Realistically, having no fans in the crowd as a result of Covid, and all their corporate sponsors wanting to show they're all "pro-BLM/diversity" made this happen.

Not to say I'm shaming them for doing this now. Because I'm not. I'm genuinely stunned and impressed that they would take this kind of stance against the Confederate flag. I just think circumstantially the stars aligned for them to make it happen.

NASCAR has had a good week honestly. They had a great video put out and did a nice ceremony during warm-ups and have really shown some support to their black driver.

Good on NASCAR regardless of how or why. They are way ahead of every other sport on this right now when normally your expect them to be last or most resistant.

Is it starting to concern anyone that the opportunity to have real progress in prison/police mentality and public discussion shifting toward rehab instead of punishment that suddenly all the attention has been turned to confederate monument removal?

Not that I condone most of these monuments staying up, but some do hold historical significance and should be taught instead of revered. The cynic in me is worried that the opportunity to strike hot iron is being wasted on this. Our national attention span is only so long, and once politicians feel like they've done enough for a "win", they're going to move on with shrugged shoulders and say "well, we tried. maybe next time."

Would any of you honestly be happy with the end result of Floyd's death being removal of confederate flags and statues alone?
