bit late replying to this one, but "IF" it's the same in the states as it is in canada then yes police do in fact get tazed in order to be allowed to carry tazers, it's to help the officers understand what it feels like so they'll be less likely to just subject people to it.

California for sure they don't unless that changed in the last five years. Then again, they aren't even standard issue out here. They have to do a training and safety course to get them issued.

Well, you can clearly see in that video that guy slowed down that the officer was unholstering his weapon before the guy swung his arm back and pointed the tazer.

Ok, so not clear on the screenshot, but watch the video. Cop was pulling his gun while the dude was running away and before he ever pointed that taser at him.

Ehhh. Really hard for me to get mad about this one. When we thought he was shot in the back, the cops would have been 100% in the wrong. But now its a guy stealing a cop's tazer and firing it. I really don't know what the cop did wrong at this point.

Well, you see, he shot a man in the back who was running away when they had all his information.

I know it's blurry here. It's less blurry in the video. Heres the cop reaching for his gun. The cop was 100% pulling out his gun on a suspect that was running away and before he pointed his taser. A suspect they had interrogated, had his car, and presumably had a positive ID.

I agree this isn't the best case to hitch onto in terms of overuse of force, but it's still an egregious overuse of force.

He was literally pointing (and maybe firing?) a weapon at the officer. Thats not quite the same as just shooting a guy in the back who was running away.

Cops have been proving 99% of them are fucking awful and corrupt as fuck. This isn't a case where I'm seeing it though.
