The looting and destruction is kind of a double edged issue. Let's be honest, if people were just protesting peacefully, nobody would care. This thread would be 5 pages long and people would throw up a #BLM on instagram and go about their day. So, in a sense, it's needed. But then the issue is how much it distracts from the ACTUAL message and drastically deters people away from the movement. If you don't think it deters people from the message, you are insanely delusional. And as videos have been posted, you got white people doing that shit and it's blamed on black people. Which, for the pro-looting people, maybe check your privilege and see who it really affects. Nobody here, that's for damn sure so fuck off with the "looting is good. voice of the unheard" bullshit. You don't fucking care. How about you go out there and help clean up afterwards and post some damn selfies for us. The only one I was moderately okay with was the police station cuz at least the anger towards it made sense

I'm assuming that mean he wasn't actually fired? Like here I'm assuming when you get fired all your pensions and contributions are forfeit unless wrongful termination or damages is proven

That is generally what happens when you are fired, yeah. It's still early and I'm not an expert on this but it certainly looks like he was allowed to "take early retirement" and it's being given the press headline of "fired".

The right answer is peaceful protest and in the case of rioting, do that shit to places that hold power. Do it infront of your mayor, Governor, DA, etc houses. Do it to the people in charge and in power so they feel your pain, DONT do it to the mom and pop shops that were devastated by the pandemic or retail stores where tons of people finally got a job at after being unemployed. Stop it.

Pretty sure someone took his cellphone that showed information akin to he knew what he was doing. Also it's a Freeway literally COVERED with people.....so pretty sure he could see them coming up, that's kind of hard to miss.

There was an image of his texts to one of his coworkers floating around. Trying to find it, but basically it him telling his friend he was going all in and his friend could have his stuff and that his wife knew what to do afterwards

This is essentially how it works with police and some civil servants. You take your retirement early by being let go to save face. Full benefits and pension and usually the time remaining until your retirement date is sick/vacation time burning. In most places police and other servants can cash out their unused banked sick and vacation time and receive a large check from the municipality, this guy will just have to burn his instead of getting his payout.

It's why some towns hurt so bad when a bunch retire at once because it's not budgeted for.
