Isn't it? I work for a pitiful 9.65 an hour part time, barely paying my bills every month, praying nothing breaks down, and still in dept. Retirement savings? HAH. getting ahead? Yeah right. I barely stay afloat. Unless you start ahead, you are pretty much sunk to begin with unless you get lucky and have the smarts to invest that luck to make it keep growing. The chains may be invisible, but they exist nonetheless, and this is for a guy who can pass as white, even if hes technically biracial (half Mexican) for minorities? They're fuuuuuucked, and not just financially. Even landing a job is difficult for them.

Agreed. Addressing Police Brutality and abuse of power, Police Reforms in whatever form they may come in, I'm no expert... Those are crucial first steps. We need police reforms so people like the asshat who undeniably murdered George Floyd can never wear a uniform that was suppose to stand for protecting the public, we need a police reform so that uniform ACTUALLY stands for protecting the public.

"Please stop murdering black people" isn't a tall order to ask for and is something we shouldn't even have to ask. For real.

For lasting change, if we ever finally crawl to a point where it seems achievable... Its not going to be some easy fix that'll happen overnight(and I know none of you expect it to be), and it won't be solved by just addressing the Police side of things. All of us will have our part in that change, me, you, and the oppressed. I know its easy to say that from my comfortable point of view, but thats the way I see it. Until all sides are ready and willing to bury the hatchet and work together for change without holding on to the hatred of the past, we will never progress.

God, I really hope we finally get some real change, and the momentum keeps up and we start tackling the root cause of the issues. Issues like Poverty, Hopelessness, Drugs ruining families, more that I'm sure I'm missing.

The problem has been stated multiple times, this place is an echo chamber. People seemingly want it to be an echo chamber. I'm simply doing what everyone else is doing, posting snippets and then commenting on them. When I comment, because it isn't in favor of the majorities opinion, people retaliate against my opinion. The whole purpose of this section is debate of opinions so yes I am engaging people as well when they directly reply to me.

I mentioned before against banning guartz to prevent this section from becoming too much of an echo chamber but after reading people's replies more in depth, there is a lot of nuance even among one side which makes it anything but. Guartz is an idiot who can't read or listen but at least when he argues he provides sources which conveniently prove himself wrong 80% of the time and the other 20% show he's a conspiracy nut. If this becomes an echo chamber, it's not because one side was forced out but because they just stop posting for feeling like a victim when they can't argue their position or they resort to just trolling all the time and get themselves banned.

Oh my goodness, there is so much wrong with your mentality. This is completely wrong man, many people have worked their way up from jobs like that including myself. You have so many opportunities these days, and not just white people. I'm not saying it's the goal, because its not. Obviously 0 deaths is. But 0 civilian casualties in a war is, to put it mildly, highly realistic. I wouldn't rule it out, and it certainly is something to aim for, but the saying "hope for the best, expect the worst " applies here.

I... kinda agree here. I hate whats happening, but I also kinda feel it shouldn't have come this far to begin with. George Floyd is just the most recent example and while I've definitely defended the Cops in the past on some of the murkier cases, this one is impossible to defend.

So, while I'm not for the protest or rioting, and quite the opposite I think its absolutely stupid to burn down your own backyard, let alone the looting, I can fully comprehend why its come to this and why some people feel that they need to resort to this kind of thing to be heard.

Yes but like I said earlier, outside of this page, I have people mentioning to me "why are you wasting your time in that echo chamber?" People are literally not engaging because you have people like Sath or just now, Bryth, go against you simply because you don't share their opinion. It doesn't lead to healthy discussion in any form. I don't know this Guartz guy because I just really started posting in this section, but I would think he reached a conclusion that I'm beginning to see. When you don't share the hiveminds opinions, you simply throw yours in there anyway out of spite and watch them get annoyed. I don't gain anything from posting here against all these people who don't accept differences in opinion, but I really just don't care if they accept it either. I just remember a more variety of opinions on this site but I guess as its died down a lot, you're left over with a lot of spam tier posters and people who don't like contrary opinions.

I didn't get lucky, I worked my way up. I understand your point of view, because I know its hard and especially when you're in a position like that where it might seem hopeless. I guess you could say its luck if you discovered a skill and used it? I mean, it could be said you were lucky you were born ? There are a lot of opportunities out there these days... especially online and with the wealth of resources people have at their fingertips.
