We just have a difference in opinions, maybe you can just respect that instead of trying to label me something or dismiss me. I disagree that anyone is trapped, there's always options and ways out in this country. There are much worse places to be in the world, like China. While his situation might be dire right now, there are options available. He'll have to keep going and try them and see what works so he can get himself out of said situation. This whole thing is going off topic anyways, why are we debating this.

I am appalled at what's happening. I feel like I'm literally taking psychic damage watching the state of the country.

But I'm not the least bit surprised or confused. If anything I'll be more surprised if things actually persist and make change. Because the goal of authority in this case and all like it is to tamp it down and put the lid back on until it boils over again.

The ugliness is easier to accept when all the violence, murder, and robbery is spread out rather than all happening at once.

What efforts have legitimately been put forth towards the issue outside of a few charities that aren't even attempting to change actual legislation?

I promise you that if enough Jon Steward/first responders kind of effort was put forth, creating and bringing actual legislation in-front of congress to pass, you could systematically curve the issue in cities and states around the country with enough time and effort. The actual problem stems from nobody wants to step up and look to correct the issue at a level that can legitimately change it. And that includes what's going on right now. It's easier just to steal shit and shrug your shoulders.

It's cool dropping nuggets of self proclaimed genius on social media about the issue, but it all means jack shit unless Americans are willing to spend actual work looking to correct it.

inb4 a bunch of yanks look to a canuck to figure out what their legislation should be

Oh, I am the eternal optimist, but I know better than to think that my situation will magically improve without a huge helping of luck. Certainly I'm keeping my eyes open for opportunities, but I've not seen anything I can make use of. Nothing that wouldn't let me live with myself anyways. Hell,I'd probably be a gay porn star and totally be chill if I had decent looks, (still losing weight, from 265 to 245 and going down!) But exploiting and lying to people is something else entirely...even if it would be so easy to make up some g G5 ray towers or something.

I can't remember which city it was but the Mayor of one the cities that has had protests is scheduling a town hall meeting with a limited amount of people tomorrow(?) to try and hash out issues that the community would like to see resolved. It's a start and it's a shame that politicians that are verbally agreeing with the protests aren't doing more to put word to paper. Given that the pandemic is still an ongoing issue, I'm sure that's making things slower logistically speaking.

    Oy vey.

I uh, I don't really have the time at the moment to explain the 160-year history of the Civil Rights movement in the United States.

"What have you done for me LATELY" actually totally explains how some people are mystified how this could be happening.

So as a proud union worker I gotta say police unions should probably go away. That letter from the Union leader in Minneapolis was unreal.

You're a moron plain and simple if you really don't think most Americans are enslaved to the system of this country. Not even talking only black people, I grew up in fucking rural upstate NY, only way out is to get a degree and hope for the best, which costs you 30-90k or more, now you're in debt. So you move to the "city" and hope you can snag a job that pays you maybe 30k or so starting pay if you get lucky. But city living is expensive as fuck, so you gotta get roomates to help split that shit usually, you can't own a car because it's the city so you gotta do public transportation, gotta hope you're never late for work even with transportation not being on time sometimes and if you are late, hope your job keeps you around. Keep hitting that grind stone more and more and more, keep chipping away at the student loan debt, and other debt you racked up trying to buy the bare requirements for living.

I was lucky as fucking shit, met someone online, moved down to MD and started fresh but her family put us up in their place while I went back to school. I got lucky again when a teacher of mine backed me for a job at the college, pay was shit but again got lucky as fuck when another coworker got a gig at NASA and I signed on. Lucky yet again and again after that for getting to where I am. Did I bust my fucking ass too? Hell yeah I did, but I fully own up to all the luck involved to be where I am. And with all of that i'm lucky I grew up in a home that was stable enough for me to have dreams and parents who busted their ass at minimum wage jobs to help me out.

If you don't think nepotism and luck factor huge into that "American Dream" then you're fucking blind. All of what I said I got a huge boost because i'm also white, I was a poor white guy which still puts me low on the totem pole but not as low as others.

My stepfather and rest of my family work harder then anyone else i've ever fucking met, at a leather mill. Makes 12-15k a year max salary wise. Everyone missing at least 1-2 fingers due to leather press accidents. Places shut down over night sometimes and tell the workers to go fuck off without notice. Or they fire you if you are sick for any reason.

Former President Barack Obama, along with other leaders, will “discuss the tragic events of recent weeks, the history of police violence in America, and specific action steps needed to transform a system that has led to the loss of too many lives” in a livestream on Wednesday, according to the Obama Foundation.

The livestream will happen at 5 p.m.

Charlotte Police have trapped protesters in a parking garage and begun hitting them with flashbangs and pepper balls unprovoked, our publisher @lafrancois_j is inside and filmed it all.

I also doubt Draylo pays attention to *any* of the police violence being posted here, he can't get over looters, but he sure has no problem excusing and moving on from each and every show of excessive force from the cops.

President Obama did reduce the number of US soldiers fighting in Afghanistan and Iraq, but he dramatically expanded the air wars and the use of special operations forces around the globe. In 2016, US special operators could be found in 70% of the world’s nations, 138 countries – a staggering jump of 130% since the days of the Bush administration.

In May 2013, I interrupted President Obama during his foreign policy address at the National Defense University. I had just returned from visiting the families of innocent people killed by US drone attacks in Yemen and Pakistan, including the Rehman children who saw their grandmother blown to bits while in the field picking okra.

Speaking out on behalf of grieving families whose losses have never been acknowledged by the US government, I asked President Obama to apologize to them. As I was being dragged out, President Obama said: “The voice of that woman is worth paying attention to.”

    Too bad he never did.
Sure he not worse than trump but his hands aren’t clean either way
