Considering his stance on the live action little mermaid and wanting blue mage of all jobs to get a buff in XI, are you guys really surprised? Also, what do you mean, your Obama?

You know we're talking about police brutality right? That is an issue that can be worked on.

Shit. If someone other than a shoe company took Kaepernick in as their spokesman 3-4 years ago to bring forth some hard hitting truth on the subject in front of congress, congress would've listened to him. Instead they use the subject as a way to sell shoes... And I mean, that's capitalism so whatever, but it's also insanely hypocritical.

I don't think anyone here is really going to say property destruction and looting (a fair bit of which are false flag police, white supremacist, and/or opportunist led instigations).

The point is that there is a lot of rage and it is getting attention where previously "acceptable" forms of protest didn't (remember Kapernick peacefully taking a knee wasn't up to snuff a few years ago). And it's kind of shitty if your primary concern is property damage because of how this rage is being vented vs. the systemic oppression that is causing all of this violence to boil over.

And I say that as an Asian growing up in LA during the LA riots -- which means I am keenly aware that destruction often harms other communities of color which the police will abandon to protect affluence.

Instead of getting up and (D) affirming people's right to protect but insisting on how those protests happen or (R) demanding people obey martial law, you know what would diffuse a lot of tension? Those city/state leaders announcing plans to combat police brutality.

The officer who killed George Floyd had about a gazillion complaints about him labeling him as violent cop. That is the norm for cops that receive continual complaints surrounding violence, it's repeat offenders.

If you don't think that can't be fixed I must be a god damned genius because it's really fucking easy.

Sooo, for the past hundreds of years people haven't been trying to get racists to stop doing this? What were doing right now isn't a part of preventing this in the future?

Guy. Literally every other workplace in North America takes action against their employees that are violent/racist/whatever. People get fired or thrown in jail for pulling bullshit. Racism isn't going away, obviously, but the police force is a place of employment like any other. A lot of American police forces have chosen to protect their fuck ups and they retain their employment. That is an issue that can be fixed. Easily. The fact I have to even explain it is head scratching.

This is frustrating on multiple levels, not the least of which is realizing people from some other countries have no context to understand the centuries-long history of trying to reduce police brutality in the United States.

Just as context, police forces as we know them today in America have their roots in state-sponsored slave catching, later graduating to forces dedicated to keeping minorities in line.

Guy, youre canadian. Don't you think you might be too ignorant of American history and politics to know if we've actually tried really hard or tried really seriously to change police brutality in america?

A fucking Canadian trying to maplesplain American history to me? What the fuck are you even doing lol

Doesn't it strike you as odd that, of all the workplaces in North America, the only one that has successfully resisted removing violent/racist employees from its ranks is the police? Stop and think about the possible reasons behind that for a moment.

Your solution to the problem is simple and obvious. What you fail to see is the vast systemic inertia resisting that solution. That's the problem that needs solving.
