I said that trying to say the reason why Japan doesn't need guns is because it's homogenous rather than the fact that no one has fucking guns is ridiculous. Japan’s low crime rate probably has more to do with neighborhoods being self contained by the local yakuza group than the police themselves. Even than they bow their heads to the yakuza so as to not disrespect or dishonor whoever’s writing their paychecks.

Even if some miraculous changes are made to 2A via legislation or a Supreme Court case in the future, the USA is never going to be "gun-free" to the degree Japan or Canada is. There's more guns than people in the US. Also, bad guys don't care about your gun laws, they'll find a way to obtain them.

I said it before and I'll say it again.

Would we see it in our lifetime? Of course not. Can it be done? Absolutely.

If we keep throwing our hands up saying "meh, it'll take too long," shit will NEVER change.

Cliche as it is, this is about the generations to come. We can at least be a part of the incremental change and hopefully save a few lives in the meantime.
