I have very much been enjoying this. The immersion and sound design is insane. I can see where others may not as it is a third person bullet hell. It has more exploration than I would have expected for a rogue-like. Only real complaint I can get behind is there is no way to save mid run outside of using ps5 rest and runs can run 1-2 hours long vs traditional rogue-likes where a run might be 40mins on the high end. I would say it's worth full price if you're a fan of the genre and want to see what a well designed ps5 game can do.

Just curious, how's adaptive feedback? I've found that to be one of the coolest things about the console when implemented properly

Uhh, "traditional" roguelikes take a hell of a lot longer than 40 minutes to complete lol. Even Rogue itself takes 10+ hours, and bigger ones like Tales of Maj'Eyal take way longer. It's the modern ARPG/roguelike hybrids that you can blow through in 30-40 minutes.

Time per single run. Average rogue-like a single run is usually about half an hour. This one is easily 1-2 hours. But yes I agree one of the reasons I like rogue-likes is the time investment per dollar spent is usually huge. Every rogue-like I own on steam has at least 100 hours in it. As for the controller. The haptic feedback is great. It's one of those things where it's hard to explain but I'll try. One thing for example is it will be raining and the controller will have all these small vibrations on it. Or there will be a rumbling and the controller will have a vibration on the side of the controller the rumbling came from. The triggers? Eh... They want half press shoulder buttons for regular fire and full press for alt-fire. I didn't like that so i changed that.

It's quite amazing. In the first biome it's raining, and you can "feel" the drops in sync with the sound effects of the rain. My only complaint is that it absolutely kills the batteries in the controller, so you have to play with the cable plugged in or charge it quite often. It's one of those things that really adds to the immersion.

It's not using adaptive feedback in the trigger buttons as well as Astro's Playground though. There are two modes of the weapons; main fire and secondary fire. Main fire is with the aim button half-pushed in, and secondary fire is with it pushed in all the way. The way this game use it is that it's easy to push it in half, and then it takes more force to push it in all the way, to make it easier to separate between the two. Put there's no haptic feedback like the machine gun in Astro's Playground to simulate recoil, which is something that would have been nice to include.

I actually found second biome a lot easier than the first one. Beat the entire second biome including the boss on my first cycle (which was the same cycle as the boss in the first biome).

Edit: Ok, third boss was hard... But really quite interesting.

This is the most impressive "next-gen" console game so far, by miles. The adaptive feedback is ridiculous.

Motherfucker i was nearing the end of the first biome and i took a teleport to backtrack to pick up stuff and the game crashed… forcing me to restart completely. God dammit, i just decided to quit for now.

Was deciding if I should use some gift card money on this and said “wait let’s see what BG says”. Glad the game looks good but I’ll wait for a sale

Finally finished off Nier and popped this in. It's great so far but I definitely got a taste of the "save" complaints right away. My second cycle went straight through to the first boss, which I beat, then into Biome 2. It was like 3AM and I was left with either giving up my kit or leaving the game running (nothing wrong with that it just annoys me). I ended up playing until I fell in some lava.

I'm not a stranger to playing until you hit that save point/bonfire.. but the multiple hours invested in that run felt quite excessive. Maybe it was just too early in the game and I'm not used to it yet... I'm sure I'll become less attached to kits as time goes on.

You could just... You know, put the console into rest mode? It'll pick back up right where you left off.

Yeah, that's what I said. Assuming the game doesn't update itself, the console doesn't turn off, or the save doesn't corrupt and get deleted entirely.... then leaving the game running is an option. I don't like it.

Finally got around to playing this today and I love it more than I thought I would. The save issue everyone has mentioned is my only complaint about the game. I love the way they use the haptic feedback and I hope more companies take advantage of this.

I found the most insane gun today and it makes me sad that I will lose it sooner or later. =/

Had a really good run going only for it to end due to an error. I really hope they do something about saving run progress since that's the only bad thing I seem to be hearing about the game.

Slightly disappointed by Act 2, both story and gameplay wise. Finished 4->6 on the initial cycle, difficulty did not continue to scale as I was hoping and the payoff was pretty lame. Could have been a fantastic game, instead will have to settle for being merely great.

100% worthy of platinum, even though with my brief time in Act 3 can already tell it is going to be a fucking nightmare. I don't want to do it in the slightest... but I must.

I dunno the organ boss was amazing, as well as the music. Plus unlocking some of those other weapons and t2 mods can make some insane builds. I find myself just jumping to level up other weapons to see how they are. Not chasing after the final ending.
