The people trying to protect him were clearly divided due to concerns for their own safety. That's shitty as fuck, but at the same time it's hard to blame them. Self preservation is a hell of a thing.

Granted I can't understand why you go to the protests without being prepared to get the shit beaten out of you or killed. Both are very real situations that I guess a lot of people don't take seriously until it happens.

I actually had to sit down with my 6 year old before I went out the first night and talk to her about how if "daddy doesn't come home, it's because he stood up to evil people."

Now as fucked up as that sounds, I'm white, so obviously it's not something I've ever really had to worry about. I actually choose to put myself in danger for the cause, a choice minorities don't have.

I get that's extreme for a lot of people, but if you don't understand the danger, I don't think you can really understand the movement.

You say piss poor, but based on that video, the other protests that were protecting them are the reason they were able to leave. These people are not trained cops, but they still put themselves in a position to help someone else when mob mentality was active.
