Not sure if this has been mentioned before, but I'm starting to see rumblings on the twitter about how certain cities are having large amounts of high quality fireworks just randomly being handed out, resulting in long of nights of constant explosions and other related distractions in what could only be described as a move out of the PsyOps playbook for destabilizing protests and at-risk communities since it normalizes sounds that could otherwise be gun shots. 2) Jackasses ramping up midnight fireworks harder and harder in the month before and after the 4th of July has ALWAYS been a thing.

The concern seems more that it's not just kids lighting off bottle rockets or M80s, but things you'll more likely see in more organized shows with bigger/more complex spreads. Consistently going from like 8pm until 3-4am also seems to make it odd. So, while I have no doubt some can and are just your average inconsiderate jerkholes (or the YaY cOvId Is OvEr sorts), some out there being worried it's more than that is... well, their worry.

Monuments is the hill you're gonna defend here? I mean, context matters with monuments. Any Confederate monuments in public places need to go. And just because someone served as president doesn't mean all their monuments are appropriate. I mean, if someone put an Andrew Jackson monument up near an Indian reservation, that shit would be blasphemous. I understand the cultural relavatism argument some are making. I'm sympathetic to it. But at the same time, we've also attempted to rewrite history in schools and honor some truly fucking abominable people like Columbus.

Trumps rise to power has constantly been referenced to Hitler's rise to power so I think we failed on that front. Also statues are not the same, they are for honoring things. You shouldn't be honoring people who assisted in atrocities in the past to "remember the past" same with the confederate flag...because it's not actually the fucking confederate flag. So you're just wanting to remember 'good ol days when I had slaves and could treat blacks like trash they are'.

Nice strawman on the book burnings, were you pissed that HBO took down Gone with the Wind for a day or two so they could put up a little clip before the movie calling attention to it being a different era? There are tons of racist cartoons still on the air, but the people behind them reference the fact that 'yes these are racist, we all know it now but this is how it was in the past, don't forget that'.
